In October 2013, I checked off a biggie on my bucket list — swimming in the Devil’s Pool<\/strong> at Victoria Falls<\/strong> (Zambian side).\u00a0The experience was amazing! Nothing beats swimming at the edge of a waterfall. If you ever find yourself in southern Africa<\/strong>,\u00a0this really is a must do.<\/p>\n

<\/a>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/a><\/p>\n

The Devil’s Pool\u00a0excursion is only offered by\u00a0Tongabezi (http:\/\/tongabezi.com<\/a>). You meet at the Royal Livingstone Hotel (in Zambia), then take\u00a0a quick motor boat ride to Livingstone Island, where you\u00a0walk across\u00a0flat\u00a0land towards the Zambezi River.\u00a0Along the way,\u00a0you’re treated to amazing natural photo opps of rainbows and views of the gorges below.\u00a0Once you get closer\u00a0to the river, the landscape gets rockier.\u00a0(I highly recommend rubber heeled aqua shoes).\u00a0After a short swim and climb down a rocky embankment, you’re finally at the Devil’s Pool, a naturally-formed pool at the edge of the waterfall.\u00a0You can only swim there during dry season, so you won’t see the falls in their full glory.\u00a0But\u00a0in exchange, you get a birds eye view of the falls, the gorge, and the river\u00a0below, and an indescribable feeling that you’re at a truly\u00a0special place.<\/p>\n
